Toolkit for Employers
*If you are interested in bringing an Employer Resource Network (ERN) to your SHRM chapter or community, contact Kathy Hassebrook, Diversity Committee Chairperson of the Aberdeen Area Human Resource Association, at
khassebrook@sbslaw.net
or phone: 605-225-5420. She will guide you through the easy process and give you your local rehabilitation professional contact person who will act as your resource. Below is your meeting toolkit.
Access the ERN website to retrieve your Diversity Information sheet each month, or use the Diversity Information sheet template provided to create your own.
Create your own chapter Diversity Statement or use the Diversity Statement provided on the Diversity Information sheet.
Add in your name as a local contact person, along with your rehabilitation professional's name and contact information.
Two weeks before your SHRM monthly meeting, make contact with your local rehabilitation professional who will give you one or two resumes to include with your monthly Diversity Information sheet.
Complete the Diversity Information sheet by inserting the resume(s) provided to your.
If your SHRM Chapter sends meeting announcements by email, contact your SHRM secretary in time each month, to have him/her include the Diversity Information sheet as an attachment to your meeting notice.
Submit your monthly Diversity Information sheet to be included on your SHRM website.
Before your SHRM monthly meeting, find out how many members will be present at your meeting and bring that many copies of the Diversity Information sheet to your meeting. The sheets can be passed out before the meeting or during the brief ERN presentation.
At your meeting, as part of your Diversity Committee report, briefly explain what the ERN Project is:
The Employer Resource Network was established as a diversity initiative to address labor needs in communities by connecting employers and rehabilitation professionals and providing a qualified applicant pool to prospective employers.
Then highlight your monthly Diversity Information sheet and the resume(s) of the month. Keep it short and simple.
Your local rehabilitation professional will be attending your SHRM meetings and be available to announce the resume, and/or be a resource as questions arise.
When requests come from your SHRM members for more information, coordinate training with your local rehabilitation professional.
*If your community doesn't have a SHRM chapter, there may be other options for the Employer Resource Network. Please call to discuss.
